I Have Peace

Making a bold decision can be scary.

Most times it is unnerving.

Feelings like anxious, scared, and nervous are normal.

I made a bold decision last week.

In addition to the feelings I just mentioned, I did a lot of crying.

However, in just a couple of hours, I realized I was feeling PEACE. Wow!

Peace or peaceful was not a feeling I even entertained as possible—definitely not at that moment.

But here I was, now, feeling peace and calm.

Such a different place from my “flight” response when I was considering my bold decision.

Can you relate?

When was the last time you felt anxious, scared, or nervous?

Was it last week, last month, or just 2 hours ago?

What I realized—what I know to be true—is that I was having all those negative feelings because of the thoughts I was having.

Thoughts like, “The ladies are going to think you are crazy, Cindy”, “They are going to want out of the group”, “They are going to think I am not worthy to lead the group”.

I am so glad I didn’t allow those negative, unproductive thoughts hold me back from being my most authentic self at that moment.

I was blessed and humbled by the positive, supportive comments that flowed from that group of ladies.

Thank you.

I hit a nerve… a good nerve… the “funny bone” per se.

I can’t wait to continue the conversation.

Mirror, Mirror…

“The best mirror is an old friend”. – George Herbert 

I was talking with a friend recently. 

She said to me, “What happened to me? What happened to my body? What happened to my face? When did I get old?”  

Of course, I laughed at her assessment of herself and told her she was beautiful.  

To me, she was that same poised, put together, beautiful girl—now lady– that I’ve known for over 40 years.  

When we are that “old friend”, we see more than just the physical attributes of another.  

We see our friend’s heart, soul, and being—the total package.  

Oh, and not to fool ourselves, that old friend sees our not-so-pretty parts too.  

I want a friend that sees me for me—the good, bad, and the ugly—and loves me anyway.  

Do you have a friend like that? Are you a friend like that? 

What do you think about being that friend to yourself?  

Instead of being so darn critical of ourselves, why not try to be your “best friend”?  

I dare you!!

We easily flee from what we were working on, today’s to-do list

To forget about our responsibilities and get lost in the moment of “distraction”

All it does—the moment of distraction- is prolong the inevitable

Our task, our to-do’s, those goals will still be there when the shiny object has lost its shine

Just imagine all the time and energy that is lost when you play like the Squirrel

Instead, when you focus on the task at hand, turn off or remove yourself from distractions

You move forward

You get things done

You get closer to meeting your goals

You become very efficient at being the most productive You possible

And, you end up having time to PLAY, on purpose

Have You Checked In Lately?

When was the last time you checked your progress? 

Was it yesterday? Last week?  January 1st? Or never?!?!?!? 

When we set goals– when we have projects we want to complete– it is important to set “review time” 

Time to review what was accomplished and why AND what wasn’t accomplished and why 

How do you know if you are getting closer to your big goal? 

I recommend a weekly check-in 

At the beginning of the week, decide what result you want and what tasks are needed to accomplish that result 

Then put all those tasks on your calendar and get things done! 

At the end of the week, evaluate your activities and whether or not you met your goal 

Adjust as needed for the next week 

Keep doing this process weekly and you will see the progress continue 

You can also take this same format each month 

Look at what you want to accomplish this next month, break it down by week, and set tasks to complete accordingly 

It really is a simple process 

So why don’t most of us do it? 

Because we don’t want to do the work when it is time to do it.

Scheduling With Results In Mind

When was the last time that you filled your calendar with to-do’s? 

Maybe you didn’t even put your various activities on your calendar at all—you just left them on your growing list 

You attack your to-do list “willy-nilly”, with the only prioritization being who was yelling the loudest 

Yes, you may be getting things done—assuming you are doing the work 

Completing tasks this way can seem very haphazard and sometimes feel overwhelming 

But are you working smart and with purpose? Probably not. 

I want to propose a new way of getting things done 

Each week decide what you want to accomplish by the end of the week 

Define what result you want to achieve 

From that space, work backwards through the days to prioritize and place in order the activities you will need to complete to get the result you desire 

Makes sense, right!?! 

You then are working smarter, on purpose, with clear direction, and increasing your potential to actually meet your goal 

Try it! Try scheduling your week with the result in mind. It works!!

Do You Like Your Results?


Your results come from the actions you take. 

Your actions come from feelings—the drivers of your actions 

And, all feelings come from our thoughts—what we make things mean in the world 

So, what results are you creating in your life?

What do you need to DO to get that result? 

What do you need to feel to get you to do the work, the actions? 

And, finally, what thought do you need to think, to believe, to get you to a feeling that will be strong enough to drive the actions that lead to the result you desire?

I’ve Failed… Again

How many times have you failed? 

Do you just give up? 

Or, do you try again? 

I’ve failed many, many times. 

I laugh at it now.  

I tell my friends that I am like one of those old blow-up punching bags we had as kids, do you remember those? 

I tip over, I fall off track, I might even lose all my air, BUT… I dust myself off, I take a breath, get back up, and take another step forward. 

As I grow as a human being and as a business owner, I know that growing is going to be a long, bumpy road. 

A road of missed turns, of flat tires, and running out of gas 

I have the amazing opportunity to learn from these failures… and so do you. 

Trust me, growth won’t be all fails. 

There will be many days of great success, of joy and satisfaction. 

When we don’t give up, these failures become worthy fails—failing well. 

Worthy fails because there was so much learning and pride in know that I won’t give up.
